Cedar Plains Shetlands & Miniatures
Thank you for visiting Cedar Plains!
Our family has had horses "forever" but our history in breeding, training and showing quality Morgans began in 1966. Our ‘downsizing’ to the Miniature breed started the fall of 2001, when we rescued two little black 'ponies' that were starving in a neighbor's pasture. When we picked them up the fellow handed over AMHR papers for both little geldings. Shortly after that we went to visit a couple of local Miniature farms, and from there we were on our way! Our herd has since grown considerably since 2001 and now includes a number of American Shetlands. We bought our first American Shetland early in 2008 and from there were hooked on the ponies!
We are located just a few miles east of Brandon, in south western Manitoba. We are just 3 miles south of the TransCanada Highway, so if anyone is passing through, please do feel free to give us a call and stop in to visit.
Our horses are all beloved pets, handled daily, and they are all well cared for, well mannered little horses. We do limited showing at the ASPC/AMHR sanctioned shows and have won numerous National and Canadian All Star Awards. Our AMHR breeding program has always been geared toward producing B division driving horses, but we do have a few smaller horses too. Our goal has been to produce horses that have outstanding movement and correct conformation--horses that can excel at halter and harness--horses that have good length of leg, long necks, long, laid back shoulders, good length of hip and overall refinement...horses that truly look like horses in miniature!
