Thank you for visiting Cedar Plains, where we have been breeding, training and showing quality Morgans since 1966.

Our ‘downsizing’ to the Miniature breed started the fall of 2001, when we rescued two little black 'ponies' that were starving in a neighbor's pasture.  When we picked them up the fellow handed over AMHR papers for both little geldings.  In the envelope with the registration papers were the import papers for the horses.  We contacted the lady who had originally imported them & asked for their history.  She helped us to get their papers brought permanent and put into our name; shortly afterward we went to see her Miniatures, and from there we were on our way!   Our herd has since grown considerably since 2001 and now includes 4 American Shetlands.

Cedar Plains is owned by the the Pierce family--specifically, the mother/daughter team of Joyce & Holly.  We are located 10 miles east of Brandon, in south western Manitoba.  We are just 3 miles south of the TransCanada Highway, so if anyone is passing through, please do feel free to give us a call and stop in to visit.

Our horses are all beloved pets, handled daily, and they are all well cared for, well mannered little horses.  We show at 2-4 shows per year, mostly AMHR, in halter and harness classes.  Our breeding program is geared toward producing B division driving horses, but we do have a few smaller ones too.  Our goal is to produce horses that have outstanding movement and correct conformation--horses that can excel at halter and harness--horses that have good length of leg, long necks, long, laid back shoulders, good length of hip and overall refinement...horses that truly look like horses in miniature!
